The One Design Tip That Instantly Elevates Any Room

Happy Monday!
Every week, I love sharing practical design tips that make your home feel more beautiful, functional, and you — without needing a full renovation.

Today’s tip is a small design move that makes a big visual impact: Hang your curtains high and wide!

It may sound simple, but the way you hang your curtains can completely change the feel of your room.

By mounting your curtain rod closer to the ceiling (about 4–6 inches above the window frame or as high as possible), you draw the eye upward, making the ceilings feel taller.
Extending the rod beyond the sides of the window (about 6–10 inches on each side) also allows more natural light to come through and makes your window feel grander.

THE RESULTS WILL BE:

  • Taller-looking ceilings
  • More natural light
  • A custom, elevated feel — without changing a thing about your actual windows!

QUICK TIP:

  • Choose curtain panels that just kiss the floor or slightly puddle for a tailored look.
  • Stick with neutral tones or soft patterns that blend with your space to create a clean, modern vibe
  • Use metal or wood curtain rods that match other finishes in the room.

This small adjustment is one of my go-to tips, especially in small spaces or rooms that feel a bit flat. It’s a quick win that makes your home feel thoughtfully designed.
